First Day Hike

January 1st is our collective opportunity to reflect on the previous year and look forward to new possibilities. What better way to celebrate than stepping into nature. Ontarians Parks are hosting safe and healthy First Day Hikes on January 1, 2022. Algonquin Park is offering free hiking experiences including self- guided, and small group events.  Mikesew will be open for skiing or hiking. Winter isn’t boring – it’s Ontario’s coolest season (pun intended). Remember to keep these winter hiking tips in mind: • Plan for earlier, shorter day • Wear and pack layers • Keep you footing with boots, icers, and poles • Fuel your body and stay hydrated First Day Hike contest in partnership with Merrell where entrants can win a $250 Merrell gift card. To enter, entrants post a social media photo of their FDH in an Ontario provincial park on Jan 1, and tag with @OntarioParks and use the #FirstDayHike.
